Taranaki Alpine Club – 90th Jubilee Celebrations
Monday 1 August 2020, Queens Birthday weekend
It has been 90 years since the Taranaki Alpine Club came into being. Come and help us celebrate this remarkable occasion with a pot-luck lunch on Queens Birthday weekend.
This is a wonderful opportunity to share your memories and reconnect with long lost climbing friends. If you have some old photos to show, make sure to bring them along as well. Long-time club member Glen Hodges will put together a slide show from the club’s historic photos, similar to what we did at the hut 50th birthday celebrations two years ago. We will have all club photo albums available for you to reminisce.
What to bring: some food to share for the pot-luck lunch. This is a BYO event (but be mindful of a few kilometres of windy road to negotiate on your way home 😉).
There are a couple of stoves and a microwave at the Camp House if you need anything reheated. The Camp House kitchen is fully fitted out with all dishes, cutlery, kitchenware etc.
The committee will bring the birthday cake to be cut by the oldest and youngest members present on the day. We are very much looking forward to seeing you there.
Footnote – obviously this event will only be able to take place if the current situation around Covid 19 has changed to the extent that travel other than essential, is permitted. We’ll keep you posted and in the event we do have to cancel we will advise members promptly.
