HiTAC September 2024

President’s Desk Another month has rolled over with mixed weather conditions. I’m pleased to say the first of the three snowcraft courses was completed – thanks to Geordie, Finn, Glen & Pete for sharing your knowledge! Sadly the second course didn’t get the same luck! Our last pre-field course of the season has just been completed, so let’s hope those members get to go and learn in good snow conditions on the 24th August. My focus has been on concession renewals – I’ve been advised that the lodge concession renewal paperwork should arrive this coming week, so that’s great news. […]

HiTAC August 2024

President’s desk It’s a wet and miserable day as I write this, washing away the limited snow we had! Snowcraft 2 course went ahead with Dave, Fletcher & Geordie at the helm – thanks crew for sharing your knowledge & experience with our members! Some photos on Facebook – to prove they found just enough snow! Fingers crossed that we good a dump of the white stuff so Snowcraft 1 courses can go ahead! The committee is currently reviewing some of the club documents: The Constitution, Policies & Procedures, Safety plans, that sort of thing. These are the guiding principles […]

President’s Desk Kia Ora Koutou, Short and sweet this month team. As you are aware the Committee put in a submission for the Te Pire Whakatupua mō Te Kāhui Tupua/Taranaki Maunga Collective Redress Bill which has had its first reading and is now before the Māori Affairs Select Committee. On Monday 24th June our Vice President Ivan Bruce spoke to the bill at the New Plymouth District Council chambers on our behalf. We are aware that Stratford Mountain Club are also speaking to their submission and Egmont Alpine Club put in a written submission but didn’t request the right to […]

HiTAC June 2024

President’s Desk Kia Ora Koutou, Another month ticks by and the snow has been teasing us and then melts! Hopefully, these snowfalls are indicating a solid season ahead on the maunga! Your committee has had a busy month dealing with the usual club business and amongst the correspondence we received an email advising us that the Te Pire Whakatupua mō Te Kāhui Tupua/Taranaki Maunga Collective Redress Bill had had its first reading and was now before the Māori Affairs Select Committee for consideration and submissions were open. We had a timeframe of about 2 weeks to read the document, discuss […]

HiTAC May 2024

President’s desk As I sit and scribe this I am sitting by the fire, the weather is chilling down, so hopefully this session we will have good snowfalls to play in! Snowcraft dates are out and applications have been called for. This year we have a slightly different approach to how we group people together so on the day/s everyone is at similar starting point. This will create ease for both instructors and participants alike. Traditionally snowcraft courses fill quickly so express your interest sooner rather than later! Hopefully Rock & Rope will be a “go” this weekend, after having […]
