First up this month is to advise that a date has been set for the 2018 Open Climb. Mark your diaries for Saturday 17 February, with a reserve date of Sunday 18 February. If anyone is fielding inquiries you can let people know that bookings will open on our website from early December. We will hold the Open Climb induction at the October club night.
Further to my talk on Fiordland at the July club night, this is the link for the Milton Rotary Tramping Club/Otago Youth Adventure Trust, who organise tramps on the Great Walks and further afield, plus they cover some of the popular and lesser known cycle routes in the South Island. Their website is worth a look: www.otagorotarytrusttramps.org.nz
I hope you’ve all called in to Macpac to get your tickets for the NZ Mountain Film Festival presentation on 2 August at Event Cinemas, which takes the place of our August club night. As usual Joelle has done a fantastic job organising a selection of movies from the Central Otago event.
And do make sure you read all of this newsletter. We have an exciting announcement about a visitor to our club, who will also present the November club night!
What a brilliant weekend at the lodge for the pot luck dinner & movie night. Fantastic food, good company and an awesome selection of movies. Such a privilege to be on the mountain amidst that stunning scenery! Thanks to everyone who posted photos on our facebook page. And great to see club members working together as club members do – making sure everyone was safe in the very firm conditions.
