First up this month is to advise that a date has been set for the 2019 Open Climb. Mark your diaries for Saturday 16 February, with a reserve date of Sunday 17 February. We had a very enjoyable occasion celebrating the 50th birthday of Tahurangi Lodge at the Camp house on Monday of Queens Birthday weekend. More than fifty members, both past and present had a lovely lunch and reminisced about many happy times spent on the mountain. Glen had a brilliant selection of photos on display and we celebrated with the usual delicious cake. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped to make this such a special occasion. We are all looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend at the Hut Birthday celebrations for Tahurangi Lodge’s 50th Birthday. Could all members please make sure you have submitted any Open Climb feedback to me. We are looking at a couple of important changes for future Open Climbs. The first is to make the starting point Stratford Plateau rather than North Egmont. Parking at North Egmont has become nigh on impossible, and those participants who did walk around from Stratford for this year’s event gave positive feed back on their walk.
