HiTAC January 2025

From the President’s Desk Season’s greeting clubbies! Hope you have some fun, relaxation & some great activities planned for the summer break! As some of you may be aware we had to change the club night for December, and sadly the numbers were quite significantly reduced, so moving forward we are going to keep club night to the first Thursday of the month as per usual. This means the February club night will be 6th February with the traditional social BBQ at the river. See below for the details, and keep an eye out on Facebook, too. Congrats to Jeremy […]

HiTAC December 2024

From the President’s Desk Our year is coming to a close rapidly, I do hope you have been able to enjoy the maunga in the snow season even though it was a brief period?! Thank you to all our Snowcraft leaders, buddy walk leaders, trip leaders and the other volunteers who work quietly behind the scenes. This is what our club is about, supporting each other to grow in our confidence and experiences! Next time you are at the Lodge you will notice that the kitchen has had a major spruce up!  We are sporting bright orange, which freshens the kitchen […]

HiTAC November 2024

President’s Desk You may or may not have noticed I haven’t been at club nights recently. I’ve been away on Te Araroa trail in Northland. I have had to leave the trail due to a foot injury sadly. However the committee continues the preparation for the working bee that’s happening in November. Next time you’re relaxing at the lodge, look around for the latest “Wilderness” magazine. Within the pages there are good tramping suggestions and product reviews. See you at our next club night. Sheryl HamiltonMadam President Read More: HiTAC November 2024

HiTAC October 2024

Presidents Desk Spring has brought a lot of rain to our region with a good dump of snow, unfortunately the snow doesn’t hang around that long. I do hope you got a chance to go and have a play on the hill. My last trot up to the lodge was to retrieve George Mason’s ice axe from the wall, to use in his guard of honour at his funeral. Sadly, George passed away on Friday 13th September. He will be sadly missed and his contributions to the club over the years have been outstanding. A good number of TAC members […]

HiTAC September 2024

President’s Desk Another month has rolled over with mixed weather conditions. I’m pleased to say the first of the three snowcraft courses was completed – thanks to Geordie, Finn, Glen & Pete for sharing your knowledge! Sadly the second course didn’t get the same luck! Our last pre-field course of the season has just been completed, so let’s hope those members get to go and learn in good snow conditions on the 24th August. My focus has been on concession renewals – I’ve been advised that the lodge concession renewal paperwork should arrive this coming week, so that’s great news. […]
